Search for Julian Sands Remains Hopeful

It has been a little over five months since actor Julian Sands went missing while hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains in southern California, but local authorities claim to have recently found human remains in the area.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced that on Saturday morning, 24 June, civilian hikers made the discovery near the Mount Baldy Bowl area, the last known location of the 65-year-old “Smallville” actor in early January.

The remains have been sent to the local coroner’s office for identification and a full report is expected by next week.

Eight searches, both on air and ground, have taken place since Sands was first reported missing. The latest search and rescue operation took place last Saturday, 17 June, with 80 volunteers, deputies and support staff.

Sands’ family issued a statement last week via the sheriff’s department, sharing that they keep him “in our hearts with bright memories”, and extending their gratitude “to the search teams and coordinators who have worked tirelessly to find Julian.”
